CN Tower, high in the sky (2 hrs)

The CN Tower is the biggest landmark of Toronto, no doubt about that. From almost everywhere in town you will see this mega structure. And of course from the look out on top of the tower you have the most spectacular views on the city and it’s surroundings.

The lookout is at 350 meter above ground level. You can walk around there, enjoy the view or have something to eat at the restaurant. Unfortunately the restaurant is not revolving. Another highlight of the tower is a glass floor at 342 meter above ground level. When you walk there and look down it feels like walking on thin ice, but it’s a great experience.

The entrance fee is Can$ 23 per person for the lookout and glass floor. The tower is open daily from 9 am to 11 pm but it’s advisable to go early morning to avoid a long queue.

Distillery district (1 - 3 hrs)

In the old days, in the Distillery District they used to produce a lot of drinks in The Gooderham and Worts Distillery. Nowadays they only serve you drinks, and a lot more. Since 2001, the 19th century buildings are renovated and the complex turned into a melting pot of arts, culture, entertainment and hospitality.

There are many wonderful restaurants, bars and art galleries, which are located in buildings and streets with names like: the boiler house, tank house lane and brewery lane.
It’s a little bit away from downtown, by taxi it will take you about 10-15 minutes, but it’s absolutely worth a visit. And you can easily spend a whole afternoon and evening in there. The Distillery Historic District, 55 Mill Street. This is their website.

Shop till you drop in world’s longest street (2 hrs)

Yonge Street starts in downtown Toronto and was formerly listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the longest street in the world at 1896 km. The first part in downtown Toronto is known for it’s great shopping facilities. There are over 600 retail stores only steps away from one another.

The Eaton Centre at Yonge Street is one of the best places for shopping, especially in winter, when it can be seriously cold outside. Inside this shopping mall you will find over 230 shops! The opening hours are: mon-fri 10 am to 9 pm, Saturday 9.30 am to 7 pm and Sundays from 11 am to 6 pm.

Relax at Waterfront (1 hr - 1 day)

Toronto is located at the shore of Lake Ontario, so there a lot of water and great views on the lake. At the Waterfront you will find a marine, many restaurants and cruise boats.
Just walk there from downtown. It’s very easy; just follow one of the big streets like Yonge Street or Bay Street in the direction of the lake. In summer you can have a nice lunch or dinner at a terrace and in winter inside the restaurants. And during summer season it’s also recommended to do a cruise. There are many options at the Waterfront, and sight-seeing cruises already start from Can$ 12 for a 45 minute ride.

Niagara Falls (1 day)

When visiting Toronto, you also have to visit Niagara and it’s famous falls. It’s nice to visit the falls in any season, even in winter. Besides the falls, there is a lot of entertainment and bars in Niagara.

There are several ways to visit the beautiful Niagara Falls. There is a guided tour which will coast you about Can$ 139, or you can make your own tour by public transportation which cost you only about Can$ 60 in total. Go to Coach Canada bus station at Bay Street. The bus starts early morning at 6.45 am and will cost you Can$ 39. You can buy the ticket at the bus station. The bus will bring you to Niagara in about 2.15 hours. From the station you can take a cab to The Falls. The entrance fee there is about Can$ 15. You can take a bus back to Toronto from the bus station and the last bus leaves at 0.30 am.

Art gallery of Ontario (2 hrs)

The Art Gallery of Ontario is a wonderful museum with a lot of contemporary art, and also Canadian and African art, Masterpieces of European art including works of Claude Monet, Paul Cezanne, Vincent van Gogh, Pablo Picasso and Rene Magritte. And of course the museum has temporary exhibitions. More information about that can be found at their website.
The museum was founded in 1900 and it is one of the largest art museums in North America.

You will find the museum at 317 Dundas Street and the entrance fee is Can$ 18,00. The opening hours are from 10 am to 5.30 pm daily and the entrance is free at Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8.30.

Chinatown (2 hrs)

Toronto has a lot of Chinese residents and actually, the city has one of the largest Chinatowns in North America, situated along Dundas Street And Spadina Avenue.

In these streets you will find a lot of shops, markets and restaurants, which serve you a good and very affordable meal. A great place for lovers of Asian food and culture, and an extra holiday for someone who’s not familiar with Asian culture.

The beaches (3 hrs)

A great area to in Toronto is the ‘vintage’ neighbourhood The Beaches, which is located to the East of Toronto's downtown, from Coxwell east to Victoria Park. The lakefront is divided into four sections; Woodbine Beach to the west, Kew Beach and Scarboro Beach in the centre, and Balmy Beach to the east. It is four beaches, which give the neighbourhood its name and defining principal characteristic.

The commercial district of Queen Street East lies at the heart of The Beaches community. It is characterized by a large number of independent speciality stores. The stores along Queen are known to change tenants quite often causing the streetscape to change from year to year, sometimes drastically. The side streets are mostly lined with semi-detached and large-scale Victorian, Edwardian and new style houses.
